About the Artists
Wendy Golding
"Faded Indian summer"
Based in Gloucester Wendy works in her small studio in her garden. Her artistic influences are Abstract Expressionism and Abstractionism. Using spontaneous mark-making she likes to organically create a piece of art in response to a feeling, word, colour, landscape, or emotion, thereby capturing the spirit of something or her response to it. Her works are expressions of movement and emotion.
As a contemporary artist wanting to emotively interpret things that resonate with her, she uses intuitive marks and lines to illustrate movement, light, and texture - working mostly in mixed media, Acrylic, inks, pastels, and charcoal.
Her techniques: Wendy loves creating work that is familiar yet abstracted, applying movement and mark making in layers, experimenting with different mediums and textures. She works on canvas and board creating layers of mixed media.
Wendy exhibits mostly around Gloucestershire, Bath, and Bristol (see her website for dates) but aspires to exhibit nationally and internationally.
Wendy is part of Gloucester Contemporary Artists, Junction 12 and MAC.
Beverley Perry
Beverley Perry is an artist based in Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds. Art is her passion. Her work is influenced by her strong love of nature and the world around her, and shows expressions of warmth, colour, and personality. She loves nothing more than being out in the open air, taking in her surroundings and is often inspired by our beautiful countryside and our lovely little villages.
Her recent, more expressive work combines mixed media, paint, and ink to capture the and mood of nature. She wants to capture the vibrant colours as well as the textures of what she sees. Atmosphere. Beverley has been selling work for over 35 years exhibiting regularly with friends, Group exhibitions and on Etsy. She combines the use of photography, sketching, a lot of imagination, and a wealth of artistic licence to create her unique paintings.
Beverley is part of Gloucester Contemporary Artists, Junction 12, Gloucestershire Society of Artists.
"Woodland Wonder"
Deborah Harrison
"Eclosion"
Deborah was born in Yorkshire. She is an award-winning contemporary sculptor who specialises in stone. She discovered stone carving in her middle years in the Greenbelt Festival craft tent. Later she went on to study Fine Art and attained a diploma in stone masonry. She is led by the stone, using the technique called carving direct, following its grain, form and colour. She lives with the rock until she sees the shape within, then carves until she reaches a ‘skin’ and the sculpture takes on a life of its own. Her works are a unique combination of figurative and abstract forms and is best known for her alabaster sculptures, but she also carves in marble and limestone.
Deborah seeks convergence between the characteristics of the stone, her growing carving skills and her faith. Carving with hands, head and heart to impute emotion and presence into her pieces.
Deborah won the International Spiritual Art Award for Sculpture for her Cherubim (Tetramorph) in 2023. And won the Ashburner Sculpture Prize 2022 for her Stone Totem which was about Connectivity (see her website page). Deborah enjoys working collaboratively with organisations to raise access to the arts in the community and is based at Gloucester City Works where she leads carving courses for all levels of ability and experience. She welcomes commissions for indoor and outdoor sculptures, for public and private clients.
Deborah is one of the founder members of the Cotswold Sculptors Association which began in 2017 but is also a member of Cotswold Sculptors Association, Gloucester Contemporary Artists, Society Of Equestrian Artists, Inside-Out, The Oxford Sculptors Group, FarOpen Studios.
Gerald Crittle
Gerald is an abstract artist based in Gloucestershire who enjoys creating textured surfaces and experimenting with mixed media. His art often hints at celestial bodies like planets and galaxies, but purposely steers clear of depicting anything that’s easily identifiable. He also uses old, gnarled floorboards as a canvas to bring a bit of quirkiness and originality to each piece, and no two are the same.
In 2024 Gerald had two paintings shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
Gerald started painting in 2008 and over time he has developed his technique, established a style and increased his output. He creates his art in his studio in Cheltenham and at home in his garden. Gerald is part of Gloucester Contemporary Artists, Junction 12 and Gloucestershire Society of Artists.
