bio

Simon Barlow - a kiwi now living in Gloucestershire I have been painting and sculpting for over 40 years both recreationally and commercially for my work ; in architecture and design . Since retiring I joined two local Life Class (Stroud Life Drawing and Paul Fowler Life drawing - extreme poses),from which my interest in the human form developed, and sought inspiration from ballerinas due to their physicality, balance, and grace. The style, medium, and colouration is varied to complement the dynamic of the pose and character of the Ballerina. In the process of creating the Ballerina series I have tried to Capture different aspects of their art form, from the endless training and hard work to the final stage Pro-Formance as a Primadonna. I have made a virtual model of sixteen gallery with a preview of my Ballerinas exhibition on 15 -21 Against 2024. Exhibition very successful, sold 3 of 21 paintings on show. Click on the following link to access the site, maximise the screen and use the arrows to navigate the virtual gallery. https://view.mylumion.com/?p=pxu8pnjwktjqa39o Click on the following link to see more of my artwork in the virtual gallery. https://view.mylumion.com/?p=d3mg7ppb5af8rgsh Hobbies include travel ,skiing and diving which too have stimulated other works of art for example a manta ray ,divers , icebergs etc. I am currently working on a female form sculpture to compliment an already made male bronze resin sculpture,(D.N.A. the ribbon of life), which I hope to cast in bronze at a later date.
