Artist Biography
I am a portrait artist based in Hereford. My figurative art started with figurine paintings sold through a local gallery back in 2003 then to formal 2D & 3D portraiture in various media.
My work portfolio is varied as I constantly look for new challenges through materials, techniques and subject matter. Most of my recent portfolio has been portraiture on leather (sci-fi, biker and rock n roll) jackets! This proved particularly popular during Lockdown.
I am known as the leather artist as I not only paint on leather jackets and fashion accessories the use of leather extends to my wall art. My portraiture and especially wildlife art on leather are popular as I have mastered the painting and finishing techniques to the degree that they can be shown without glazing and some feature my innovative box framed wrap technique.
Taking a Realism style suits me.
My first solo figurative exhibition as in Chicago at a private venue in 2013.
I was an Army Engineer Veteran of 22 years until 2003 where I did portraiture and life sculpture as part of my resettlement to civilian life. Then followed a successful career in the defence industry until 2013 when I changed career to a full-time artist. My art education has been short courses at the West Dean, Hereford and Malvern art colleges.
My art has been exhibited across the UK, from formal exhibitions at the Mall Galleries in London, to the Contemporary Art Fairs in the Home Counties and other lifestyle events.
