THIS WEEK OUR FEATURED ARTIST IS PHOTOGRAPHER ANDREW GURNETT

Andrew Gurnett is a photographic artist whose work explores the unintentional beauty of the forgotten, discarded, functional or mundane corners of our urban environments. His work entices the slow contemplation of the everyday and the familiar, a looking away from the constant change of the world around us to find meaning and connection in the details of unlikely places.
His current collection showing on Sixteen Online "Foreshadow", is an exploration into layering and creating a sense of frozen time and space. These images demand viewers' slow experience, delving into the mysterious topologies as we form a dialogue with layered intricacies. The juxtapositions of natural forms overlaying the human environment derive questions of place and narrative in situations both recognisable and strange.

Andrew's eye for sublime muted colour tones that evoke a sense of serenity and calm can be seen throughout his portfolio. This alongside his intriguing compositions that play with light and shape creates a collection of sumptuous images inviting the viewer to be charmed by the almost nothingness which his imagination has formed into delight through his gaze.
Andrew's works are available directly from the artist as giclée prints on Hahnemühle Photorag fine-art paper. Follow the links on his portfolio for more information about our featured artist and his practice.
